Hillside Modern

Modern in structure, timeless in material - this project represents the kind of partnership that produces homes worth returning to.

High standards, quietly kept.

Perched above the hills with views that set the terms for every decision, this Los Altos Hills home is a study in collaboration at the highest level — between architect, owner, and interior designer. The client brought strong creative energy and deep personal investment to the interiors, landscaping, and architecture, and TCLee Design worked in close partnership to shape, refine, and execute that vision with precision.

The architecture announces itself immediately: floor-to-ceiling Italian steel windows wrap the great room, and an oak-paneled ceiling draws the eye upward while grounding the space in warmth. A frameless corner window — one of the home’s defining architectural moments — dissolves the boundary between interior and the hillside views beyond. At the large breakfast nook, grasscloth wallcovering adds texture and intimacy to a room that opens onto one of the most dramatic outlooks in the house.

The spaces where our hand is most fully present are built around stone. The primary bath is clad entirely in limestone — floor, walls, and dramatic splitface limestone slab feature walls that brings raw texture into an otherwise serene space. The pool bath takes a different turn: geometric glass mosaic tile in a palette that feels both playful and precise. A carefully curated lighting program runs throughout — each fixture a considered choice in a home where every detail was held to an equally high standard.
