There are homes designed to impress and homes designed to be lived in. The best ones do both — and this Los Altos Hills new build, designed by Louie Leu Architects, has spent years doing exactly that. Weekend gatherings around the pool, long summer afternoons on the terrace, family celebrations that spill naturally from inside to out — this is a home that has earned its memories. Louie Leu has a particular gift for making large homes feel genuinely intimate, and at this scale the project is perhaps his clearest expression of that sensibility. Rooms feel generous without feeling grand, and the indoor-outdoor connection is so seamlessly handled that the distinction between the two barely registers on a warm California day.
TCLee Design’s contribution was to match that architectural restraint with a finish program built for longevity rather than moment. Vein-cut travertine and natural stone in the primary bath bring warmth and quiet depth to the home’s most private spaces. A concrete fireplace anchors the living area with understated permanence. Neutral tones and glass tile run throughout — materials chosen not for their immediate impact but for how they’ll feel ten years from now, when the house has fully become itself.
Timeless was the brief. Timeless is what was built.
