Bright & Grounded

Where the Legos have a home too.

Bright & Grounded

Los Altos, CA

Some homes are designed around what a family might become. This one was designed around exactly who they are — two active parents, two preteen boys with serious Lego collections, and a household that moves fast and lives loudly. TCLee Design’s job was to make sure the house could keep up.

Color runs throughout with intention. Custom bookcases in the boys’ bedrooms are finished in bright, saturated hues — one room anchored by a hand-painted mural, the other by a bold area rug that grounds the space without quieting it. The palette is youthful but considered: choices made to grow with the kids rather than date with them.

Whimsical wallpaper and three-dimensional tile reflect homeowners who were willing to push the envelope — clients who arrived with strong instincts and trusted us to channel them into something cohesive. The result is a home that feels curated without feeling precious, where personality shows up in every room without overwhelming any of them.

A dedicated home gym completes the program — a practical commitment to the active lifestyle that defines this family, as thoughtfully finished as any other space in the house.

A self-contained ADU completes the property — guest suite or rental, finished with the same bright conviction as the main house. The lemon yellow front door announces it perfectly.

This is what it looks like when a family moves in before the first coat of paint is dry.
